Bezděz
A monumental early-Gothic castle built by King Přemysl Otakar II in the second half of the 13th century. Later, Albrecht of Wallenstein converted it to a Montserrat Benedictine monastery. The castle was abandoned in the 18th century.
Visitors can see the castle area with the royal palace, the burgrave’s house, a and unique early-Gothic chapel. King Wenceslas II a his mother, Kunhuta, were held prisoners here by Otto von Brandenburg. The tower offers a splendid view.
