About Czech Republic
Březnice
Originally a water keep, converted in the 16th century into a Renaissance chateau. A renaissance garden, a herb garden, and an English park surround the buildings.
The historical interiors contain collections assembled by the Kolowrat and Pálffy families (family portrait gallery, library, the feasting hall, armory, etc.) and include a chateau chapel. The library (Lokšanská library) is the oldest library of the classical type in the country. The Ludvík Kuba gallery presents mostly paintings with South Bohemian motifs.
