About Czech Republic
Cheb
An extensive Romanesque castle a imperial seat founded by the German Hohenstauf dynasty in the 12th century. The castle fortifications were radically altered into a Baroque fortress.
The castle complex includes a unique late-Romanesque two-storey chapel and the ruins of a Romanesque palace with cluster windows. A prism-shaped tower called the Black Tower offers views. There is an exhibition on local archaeological finds, the history of the local stove industry, and the Baroque casemates.
