Helfenburg near Bavorov

Extensive ruins of a 14th-century Gothic castle, once belonging to the Rožmberk dynasty. The castle complex is surrounded by fortification mounds, moats, massive battlements and cannon bastions.

The entry gates, a torso of a three-storey palace, and the Rožmberk insignia carved in stone have all been preserved. The cylinder-shaped tower has been converted into an observation tower, offering fine views of the Šumava mountain range.
