About Czech Republic
Hradec nad Moravicí
The “White Chateau” was originally a royal Przemyslid castle from the beginning of the 11th century; later it underwent a Renaissance and a Baroque restoration and Empire-style modifications. The neo-Gothic “Red Chateau”, an entrance gate and the White Tower were added in the 19th century.
There is an adjoining English park. The White Chateau is currently under renovation; however, certain rooms are open to the public, such as the splendidly furnished state salons and rooms for social occasions, along with elegantly appointed guests’ quarters. A permanent exhibition on the history of the castle is also open. The chateau gallery boasts precious artworks – paintings, sculpture, a graphic art; there are two memorials – to Ludwig van Beethoven and Ferencz Liszt. The Red Chateau is closed to the public; during the years 1270-1283 it served as residence to Queen Kunhuta.
