About Czech Republic
Jilemnice
Originally a Renaissance chateau on the site of a Gothic stronghold; burned down in 1646 by the Swedes, renovated in 1716 by the Harrach family. Remodeled in the pseudo-Renaissance style at the end of the 19th century.
The exhibition covers the fields of ethnography, the history of skiing in the Czech lands, a collection of nativity scenes, a collection of coats-of-arms of the undertakers’ guild, and an art gallery. Among the exhibits is also the unique mechanical Metelka nativity scene, as well as the finest linen fiber in the world.
