Vrchotovy Janovice

Originally a medieval water fortress, rebuilt in the Renaissance style by the Lords of Říčany, in the 18th century transformed into a Late-Baroque chateau of the Counts of Vrtba. In the mid-19th century the chateau adapted by the Counts of Mitrovice in the style of Neo-Gothic. An English park.

Historical interiors with painting and woodcarving decoration and expositions: Society in Bohemia in the 9th century; Rilke and Kraus and Vrchotovy Janovice. In the Gothic cellars an exposition of Czech bell founding. The chateau visited many remarkable personalities, especially during the era of the last owners the Nádherný family of Borotín, such as R.M.Rilke, K.Kraus, M.Švabinský, V.Stretti, A.Loos etc.
