Prague – a city of the past and present

Although Prague is one of the best preserved cities in the world, there’s no need to worry about the level of facilities it can provide. In close proximity to historical sights you will discover the most up-to-date conference venues and the number of luxury hotels increases every year.

Prague – a city of culture
The capital of the Czech Republic is a fashionable destination. Its attractiveness is born out by the fact that Hollywood filmmakers have shot tens of films in the city. Prague was also declared a European City of Culture in 2000 and has become synonymous with the word ‘culture’.

Prague – UNESCO sites
Prague represents the unique grouping of the historic Prague townships: Old Town (Staré Město), Josefov, New Town (Nové Město), Vyšehrad, Malá Strana and Hradčany, crowned by Prague Castle, along with Charles Bridge and countless captivating churches and palaces.

Music festivals in Prague
Prague is home to more than one prestigious international music festival, playing host in the sublime concert spaces of the Municipal House (Obecní dům) and the Rudolfinum among many other venues to leading international classical performers.

Prague Spring (Pražské jaro)
Held in May, or occasionally at the end of May and continuing into June, this festival, held since 1946, is focused primarily on classical music and is probably the most renowned Czech music festival.

Prague Autumn (Pražský podzim)
Logically held in September (occasionally into October), the festival provides space for groups somewhat outside the traditional bonds of classical music, e.g. flamenco ensembles or exceptional gipsy orchestras.

Strings of Autumn (Struny podzimu)
A music festival running from October into November, its focus is on the interrelations between classical music and jazz. During the festival, Prague becomes the destination of some of the most intriguing figures of the international music world.

Verdi Festival
The immortal tones of the operas of Giuseppe Verdi resound in Prague every August as part of this well-known festival.
