Disabled access at the cinema

Visiting the Czech Republic doesn’t mean you have to miss the latest film releases. Many cinemas strive to cater for disabled visitors, and are gradually installing disabled entrances and amenities. Many of the new multi-screen cinemas in Prague and other cities across the country such as Brno, České Budějovice, Hradec Králové offer a high standard of facilities.

In early July in Carlsbad you can also experience the unforgettable atmosphere of one of the most prestigious and longest running international film festivals in Europe. Through a project called Disabled Access Cinema,during the festival wheelchair users are provided information and assistance of the highest standard – from special disabled accommodation, catering and transport, to assistants who help guests throughout the festival. During the festival countless special events are held. Greatest interest is usually stirred up by swimming under the expert eye of an instructor in the rehabilitation pool at the Alžběta Spa and wheelchair streetball, where the disabled can try out the sport assisted by professional basketball players.
