Effective hippotherapy

In addition to classic riding instruction, many farms and stables in the Czech Republic also offer hippotherapy – therapy based on direct contact with horses. Contact with animals, time spent in a certain environment and advice from a team of specialists in hippotherapy can have almost miraculous affects on the physical and mental state of a physically handicapped person.

According to his or her level of disability the individual in question can chose from various types of hippotherapy – riding instruction, sport and leisure riding and classic hippotherapy for the disabled.

The Mlékojedy Stables in a picturesque location near Prague provide a high standard of services and facilities such as ramps etc. The surrounding forests and picturesque River Elbe make the experience even better and contribute to the effects of the hippotherapy. It is up to you how much time you spend there. The farm has disabled accommodation which means you can spend a week’s holiday there if you wish.

A stay lasting several days on a farm, during which vast improvements in health can be achieved, can be organised at the Otradice Recreation and Hippotherapy Centre not far from the beautiful chateau in Náměšť nad Oslavou. There is a pension and restaurant with disabled access for those taking part in hippotherapy, and classic physiotherapy including massage baths are available.

The Calverova Farm in Habartice near the town of Klatovy specialises in summer breaks involving intensive hippotherapy. Disabled access accommodation is available at the farm which is equipped with ramps etc. There is an indoor hall, as there are at most other farms.

The REPROK Association Farm in Arnoltice near Liberec, situated in the picturesque foothills of the Jizerské Mountains, also provides a pleasant relaxing environment combined with hippotherapy. The professional approach of the instructors means that the overwhelming majority of visitors leave satisfied. Physically handicapped people interested in hippotherapy will find the necessary facilities here including disabled access throughout the site and special ramps which enable the disabled to mount the horses more easily.
