Bathing

Even though the Czech Republic has no coastline of its own, it offers many possibilities for enjoying the water. The grassy or sandy banks of natural swimming areas, such as the reservoirs of Slapy, Orlík, Lipno or the popular LakeMácha (Máchovo jezero), are inviting places of relaxation.

Natural swimming areas have their unique atmosphere. You can rent a rowboat or pedal-boat; in summer, the lake-sides are lined with stands offering both souvenirs and refreshments. Parents know well that the true moment of relaxation comes when the children are swimming and they have a quiet moment to enjoy a pint of fine Bohemian lager and a well-fried potato pancake.

An unforgettable aquatic experience for children and adults is also provided by the river Vltava, which flows through the centre of Prague. Though it is no longer possible to swim in it, what about feeding the swans and ducks, renting a boat, or taking a steamer through Prague up to the zoo?

Is it raining, yet the kids still want to swim and slip down water-slides? No problem: the many Czech water parks, for example in Liberec, Příbram or Neratovice make this possible whatever the weather. While the children play, you can relax in a whirlpool bath or sauna.
