Litoměřice

In the year 1057 Czech Duke Spytihněv II originated the chapter with a Romanesque basilica on the Dómský hill. Later the basilica was rebuilt in the Gothic style.

After the bishopric was originated here in 1655, the original church was rebuilt into a bishop’s residence with the Baroque three-nave Cathedral of St. Stephen. The cathedral is connected with its spire by an arcade, the spire is built according to the model of Italian campaniles. We can find the whole range of other sacral monuments in Litoměřice.
