Osek
The monastery in Osek was originated in the late 12th century. The first Cistercians came to Osek in the year 1199.
The monastery complex was gradually enlarged in the style of Burgundian Gothic and soon it became cultural and economic centre of the region. It got the recent appearance after the Baroque reconstruction in 1712-1718. The interior was decorated with the paintings by Václav V. Reiner. In the chapter hall is a unique Early Gothic reading counter made of stone with a carved base in the shape of a knot. In its time the church organ belonged to the biggest in Europe.
