Spa towns are situated in places where natural curative resources are found. Areas where these materials are located are typically unpolluted and unspoilt. There are usually many forests in the surrounding area, guaranteeing plenty of fresh air. This is an integral part of any stay at a spa.

For instance the climatic spa at Karlova Studánka is famous for having the purest air in all central Europe.

Places of natural beauty
Actually within the spa at Teplice nad Bečvou you will find the Zbrašovské caves, the warmest in the Czech Republic, which boast unique dripstone ‘decoration’ (one of only three places where this can be seen in the world).
Nearby you can visit the Hranická Gorge, the deepest in the country, the bottom of which has not as yet been discovered – at present its depth stands at 274.5m.
Some 6 kilometres from Františkovy Lázně you will discover the SOOS nature reserve where a number of mineral-rich springs and pure carbon dioxide rise to the surface creating small mud volcanoes. A special trail takes visitors around the dried up lake bed which was once filled with salt water. Here visitors can also see a rare sight in Europe – a so-called bergmehl wall. This is like a moon landscape formed by erosion and covered in a white and yellow layer of mineral salts.
