Carlsbad - the best known Czech spa
The best known and the largest spa in the Czech republic dates back to around 1350. The Roman Emperor and Czech King Charles IV raised its status to a town in 1370. The end of the 19th century defined the architecture of Carlsbad. Thje city's best-known sights are the Church of St. Andrew, the orthodox Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, the Municipal Theatre, the Mill Colonnade (Mlýnská kolonáda) and the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene. Carlsbad is surrounded by romantic hilly countryside – the foothills of Krušné hory.
Mariánské Lázně
Situated in a picturesque valley and on the wooded slopes of the Slavkovský forest area, 628 meters above sea level; sub-mountain colder climate, moderate irritation factor. The spa owes its renown to its attractive layout, quality natural sources and numerous springs (there are no fewer than forty in the spa town itself), as well as its excellent medical success rate. A local peculiarity is a dry source of carbon dioxide.
Františkovy Lázně
A mountain plateau with a wooded park, 450 meters above sea level; climate: moderate irritation factor. The park, covering an area of 200 hectares, combines with classical architecture and an absence of industrial pollution or urban traffic makes the town a jewel among Czech spas. Geographical location: the Cheb region.
Luhačovice
The largest Moravian spa town, situated in the picturesque valley of the Olšava brook with charming spa houses inspired by folk architecture, 250 m above sea level. Climate: transitional lowland/sub-mountain climate, large daytime/nighttime temperature variations.
Poděbrady
In the 15th century King George raised the status of the town of Poděbrady to the royal town. Already in the 17th century on one healing spring a small spa was built. The recent history of the town and spas has its beginning in the period of Art Nouveau, when another strong mineral spring was discovered. The spring contains a lot of carbonic acid, magnesium and calcium. The spa centre is hidden in the green of the parks. Flat area near the river Labe surrounded by forests is ideal for the treatment of heart diseases. The town is also famous with the production of crystal plumbic glass. Romantic environment is suitable for relaxation as well as active tourism.
Teplice in Bohemia
The town is situated in the hollow between Krušné hory and České středohoří. It belongs to the oldest as well as the most modern spas in Europe. Healing springs in the Teplice valley were probably known already 2 000 years ago, which is proved by the archaeological finds of Roman coins in Pravřídlo and the finds of Celtic coins and jewels from the beginning of our epoch in Obří Pramen near Duchcov. The old habit, known already in the Classical Greece and Rome, to show one’s gratitude to healing power of mineral springs by throwing coins or other gifts into the spring, brought the confirmation of the fact that these springs are one of the oldest and most intensively used ones in Europe. The historic records from the early Middle Ages mention settlements of Slavic inhabitants and foundation of the Benedictine monastery of St. John the Baptist by Queen Judith. The spa buildings are set in the middle of the town in beautiful green of the parks and orchards.
Třeboň
The old town of Třeboň, originated in the 12th century, is situated on the mildly waved landscape in the south Bohemia. Well-preserved historic centre of the town became conservation area. The spa, the Renaissance chateau with attached parks and the large artificial lake Svět create an attractive complex with unique diversity. Deep forests and a lot of colourful artificial lakes create a beautiful landscape. The whole region is a protected area and the biosphere reserve of UNESCO. The landscape has been cultivated from the original swamps and peat bogs for centuries. The Třeboň area is also the traditional area of fish farming, mainly the famous Třeboň carps.
Jeseník
In the heart of the Jeseníky Mountains, 620 meters above sea level; stimulating sub-mountain climate with higher precipitation. The spa was founded by Vincenc Priessnitz. Geographical location: the Jeseníky region.
Karlova Studánka
A mountain spa town 760 meters above sea level; sub-mountain to mountainous climate, strong sunshine and exceptionally clean air; a rich spa tradition, founded in 1785. Geographical location: the Bruntál region.
Kynžvart
780 meters above sea level; sub-mountain climate, climate: higher irritation factor, little precipitation.
Jáchymov
An old mining town in the foothills of the Krušné (Ore) Mountains, 650 meters above sea level; a sub-mountain climate of a slightly stimulating character; the water sources are often coupled with rare metal deposits. Geographical location: the Karlovy Vary region.
Ostrožská Nová Ves
The Spa at Ostrožská Nová Ves lies 8 km from the district town of Uherské Hradiště in the very heart of of the Slovácko Region. The sulphurous spa area at Ostrožská Nová Ves was established in 1903, when chemical tests and experiments confirmed the curative properties of the water from the surrounding swamps and marshes.
Bechyně
A town on the Lužnice River, 463 meters above sea level. Climate: moderate irritation factor. Geographical location: the Tábor region.
Janské Lázně
On the southern slope of the Krkonoše (Giant) Mountains, 616 - 1299 meters above sea level; relatively warm sub-mountain climate with strong sunshine. Geographical location: the Trutnov region.
Konstantinovy Lázně
Located on the edge of the foothills of the Slavkovský forest, altitude: 510 meters above sea level; sub-mountain climate, moderate irritation factor. Geographical location: the Tachov region.
Libverda
424 meters above sea level; sub-mountain climate, moderate irritation factor. Rich in tradition, the spa is also attractive due to its 18th-century architecture.

302 meters above sea level; warm and dry lowland climate.
Toušeň
190 meters above sea level; lowland climate.
Velké Losiny
