143rd anniversary of the Battle of Hradec Králové

The Chlum elevation, northwest of Hradec Králové, was the site of a battle between the Prussian and Austrian armies on 3 July 1866.

The battle was a contest for power in the German countries. Austria suffered a reverse and had to make over the leadership to Prussian Kingdom, which arosed as the way "iron and blood" to the Empire.
Every year, on the battle’s anniversary, battle re-enactments and reverent commemorations for the fallen soldiers are held in the area of the memorial sight.
