A new exhibition on the topic of Hussitism in the Powder Tower
A new exhibition in the exhibition spaces of the Powder Tower in Prague. You can acquaint with the Hussite wars or see period subjects.
Visitors can buy replicas of medieval weapons, military accessories and utensils on the first floor or they can take a picture in the steel-clad there.
The exhibition presents a battle of Domažlice and a period of the Hussite movement on the 2nd floor. Details of exhibition furnish information boards. Except a car, which commemorates a famous wagon wall, the exhibition includes four persons in the fight. A space below them fills mulching bark.
On the third floor there are three major figures of this period - Jan Zizka, Zikmund of Luxembourg and Jan Hus and are completed with information boards and sandstone sculptures from the tower. The figurines are made from paper pulp to evoke an impression rather than a real face. It should distinguish the exhibition from the waxworks.
When the event takes place:
January 1, 2010 – December 31, 2010
The Powder Tower serves as a monumental gateway to the Old Town and is one of the symbols of Prague. It was built by Matej Rejsek in the Gothic style in 1475 and was later given a neo-Gothic makeover. The name of the tower dates from the 18th century when it served as a store for gunpowder. The Powder Tower is 65m high, and a 186-step spiral staircase leads up to the viewing platform 44m above the ground. The tower marks the beginning of the Royal Way.
