Advent at Křivoklát Castle

Traditional Christmas fair with folk entertainment interwoven with Christmas atmosphere of the castle over the weekend 5th – 6th December and 12th – 13th December from 10 am to 5 pm.

A large craft fair takes place on the premises of the lower court and in rooms of the lower castle - in the former brewery. You can see many skilled craftsmen at work, blacksmiths, basket weavers, bakers, candle-makers, potters, and many others here. To become warm you can drink mead or mulled wine in the castle taproom. You can hear Advent concerts and attend an Advent mass here. An unique Křivoklát Christmas crib and decorated castle chapel complete the Christmas atmosphere.

As each Advent you can use a special historic train from Plzeň to Křivoklát Castle on 5th December. The train offers buffet wagon and live pleasant music.

On Saturday 12th December this year for the last time will go a steam locomotive ALBATROS (498,022) from year 1947 at the head of the steam Express from Prague Braník to Křivoklát. The steam train will be set from the historic two-story set and historic wagons of the 3rd class with wooden seats, including a buffet wagon. In addition to refreshments there will a commemorative postcard "Trip to Křivoklát“ on sale and for candidates will be available a stamp issued on the occasion of the steam trip.

Owners of historic train return tickets of 5th and 12th December 2009 can use a discount for tickets to 1st sightseeing tour of Krivoklat Castle – Interiors of royal palaces.

Visitors can also visit the new sightseeing tour called the "Tour of royal history" – it leads the visitor in the most significant parts of the castle, including never unopened space above the chapel and southern wing with an ancient spiral staircase. Another offer for lovers of history is a connection of the 1st tour Royal palaces and the 2nd tour Large towers into one tour called "Across Křivoklát Castle“.
