Baroque crafts from the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague

in the cultural space of central Europe between the Mannerism of the late 16th and early 17th centuries to the classicism of the late 18th century. Installed in the attractive setting of the newly reconstructed vaulted halls of the palace cellars, it presents over four hundred objects revealing developments in ornamental techniques, styles and iconography.
The exhibit has as its focus three themes: Liturgy, The Culture of Dining and Ornament.

The exposure Liturgy includes rich collection of textiles and containers used in religious ceremonies, receiving from property of museum and Czech and Moravian monasteries.

The exposure in the Dining Hall suggests change of receptions all over the period from the use of solitary vessels after the creation of uniformly solved sets. An important role plays the collection of cutlery. This is a selection of large collections of historical cutlery, which is introduced to public after many years.

The exhibition Ornament is a collection of painted fans. Miniature scenes on the fans, rich in shapes and motifs, are comparable to the monumental works of art.
