Bartholomeus Spranger at Prague Castle Picture Gallery
Allegory of the Turkish Wars painted by Bartholomeus Spranger is the most recent loan to the Prague Castle Gallery permanent exhibition.
This painting from a private collection provides an excellent opportunity to acquaint oneself not only with the style of Bartholomeus Spranger, a renowned painter at the court of Emperor Rudolf II, but also with an important event of the times in which the man who commissioned the painting, Rudolf, had found himself, as well as with the hidden meanings of details in an allegorical work.
