Battle of Zbiroh

Zbiroh Chateau, near the royal town of Rokycany, invites you to the unique event.

Come and see this event and look through the window of time in the past, in times of powerful nobles, strong towns and valiant deeds. Your can see a contemporary market full of artisans and skilled handicraftsmen, variegated program throughout the day and taste delicatessen.

All-day program will be including:

Handicrafts
Military camp
Fencing performances
Demonstrations of weapons and guns
Contemporary music
Examples of historic cuisine
Robbers and guards and others.

The Knight's trail is ready for children, who will be knighted after fulfilment of a few tasks.
Organizers put the accent in addition to attractive program on trustworthy historical reconstruction of life, period costumes, weapons, armour and objects of daily use. The event will be attended by leading fencing groups from Slovakia, as well as by visitors from Switzerland and Germany.

The Celtic night is another event, which will be held at Zbiroh Chateau on August 13 - 14, 2010.

Zbiroh Chateau, one of the first aristocratic castles in Bohemia, has been recently completely renovated.
The originally Gothic castle from the 12th century has been gradually rebuilt into the present neo-Renaissance chateau. Among its owners were King Přemysl Otakar II, and the Emperors Charles IV, Sigismund and Rudolf II.
Zbiroh Chateau, surrounded by 60 hectares of English parkland, manages a large number of salons and halls, a chateau chapel and the oldest castle tower in the Czech Republic. Another part of the chateau is the large neo-Renaissance hall, where original curtains by Alphons Mucha are hung and in which the artist resided for 18 years whilst painting his celebrated Slavic Epic in the chateau.
Situated in the grounds of the chateau there is the Rudolf II Medieval Tavern, with a period atmosphere and interior, and a range of original specialities. A newly opened luxury Chateau Hotel with a capacity of 104 beds is located in the south wing of the chateau.
