By train to Dobříš on traditional May Festival
From Prague - Braník station the historical train with a steam locomotive will pull out to Dobříš on Saturday 22 May 2010.
The train with the steam locomotive from 1917 will leave station in Prague Branik to Dobříš and will stop at stations in Prague Zbraslav, Vrané nad Vltavou, Měchenice, Čisovice, Mníšek pod Brdy and Malá Hraštice. The music group Dixie Stars will entertain passengers in the interval.
After arrival to Dobříš railway station at 12.24 pm a concert of groups Train to Dobříš and Eldorado will be prepared on the premises of the station. In addition to the concert at Dobříš station you can visit Dobříš Chateau; an extensive Rococo chateau in the French style, with an ambitiously designed French-style garden and an English park. The historical interiors feature valuable furnishings from the Rococo a Classicist periods. The formal rooms include the richly decorated Mirror Hall, a library with family portraits, and a neo-Renaissance dining hall. In the park, visitors will find the so-called “Devil’s Bridge”, subject of a local legend. For passengers of the steam train is ready 50% discount on the ticket to the chateau and the garden will be free. There is an exhibition of vintage motorcycles with free entry if you also have the railway ticket.
In the town centre there is traditionally held The May Festival, this year already the 10th annual volume. Of course as always there will not be missing a rich cultural program, performances of local schools, dance and music groups, a motor-bikers ride, a fire-fighting competition and special events in the square and its surroundings.
At 02.00 pm the steam train will go on a journey from Dobříš to Malé Hraštice and back. The train will leave Dobříš to Prague at 03:35 pm. Traditionally, a buffet car will be included in the train and a commemorative stamp will be prepared.
