Church Night firstly in all of the Czech Republic
Church Night will be held for the first time all over the Czech Republic on 28th May 2010. More than 350 churches will be opened and will offer more than 2000 different programs.
On Friday 28th May within the frame of the Church Night, churches and chapels throughout the Czech Republic will lure you to visit. You can admire a beauty of churches and chapels interiors and at the same time attend the program for visitors, that single parishes have prepared.
The idea to invite all to a church or a chapel at the unusual hour was born in Austria in 2005. Since the time, this idea to gently introduce spiritual wealth of churches to those who normally do not go into them, has spread throughout Europe. Last year this event was held in the Czech Republic in Plzen and Brno for the first time. Almost 10,000 visitors passed through 7 churches in Pilsen.
In the evening and at night atmosphere will be possible to visit various churches and take part concerts, guided tours, step up towers or visit places that are normally inaccessible to the public. The night will start by ringing bells. A novelty of this year will be a pilgrim passport, in which visitors will collect specially made stamps of individual churches.
Entry is free, and in an ecumenical spirit. Now 9 Christian churches are engaged in the Church Night.
A program of 51 churches of archdiocese of Prague is a part of issued booklet, which was made for better navigation during the night. The booklet contains a map, a brief description of each church, transport connections, GPS coordinates and other informations.
