Cihelna 2010

Every year in late August, the town of Králíky plays host to a commemorative event with over a decade of tradition, focusing on re-enactments, living history, military history and military technology from the past century.

Rich program is designed for all fans of military history and those interested in the topic of national defense. Each year it represents the peak of celebrations of the end of World War II in the Czech Republic.

The main program for the public takes place in the demonstration area near the Military Museum Králíky and infantry blockhouse K - S 14 "U Cihelny“ on Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm . The event begins with a tour of historical military vehicles through the town Králíky and surrounding villages on Friday morning. It continues in the afternoon public rehearsal of the main program. In the evening the event culminates in cultural program in the square of Králíky.

Combat demonstrations are followed by stationary displays of historical and contemporary military equipment from museum collections and private collectors, by dynamic shows of historical military equipment and troops - the presentation of military history clubs and displays of historical military camps. A large time is devoted to a show focused on the Western Front in 1944 - the encounter of allied front troops with retreating German rearguard.

The program includes demonstrations of the Integrated Rescue System of the Czech Republic, the Prison Service, Police and Customs Service. During the event, all military history exhibitions in fort premises from 1935-1938 in the surrounding of Králíky are made available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A special bus line Králíky – artillery fortress Bouda is established for visitors for these days.

The town of Králíky has opened a modern military museum in the Czech Republic - Military Museum Králíky since July 1, 2010. The museum is open year round and the military history exhibition is devoted to the army, defence of the country and Czechoslovak defence works. The museum also makes a background for the annual commemoration ceremony Cihelna.

The museum's exhibition include tanks, self-propelled artillery, armored infantry fighting vehicles, armored troop-carriers, field artillery, anti-aircraft guns, anti-aircraft missiles, mortars, trucks, missile carriers, logistics and engineer equipment, munition and other weapons. A part of the exposition acquaint visitors with the life and fate of important military figures - an army general Ludvík Krejčí, Chief Commander of the Czechoslovak mobilized armed forces in 1938 and brigadier general Bohuslav Fiala. The exposition is deployed to a total area of 3000 meters.

In 2009-2010 the museum underwent an extensive renovation, financed by EU funds. Thanks to it, the museum became the most modern military history museum in the Czech Republic.
