Concert to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin

This year, the entire cultural world commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of compositional genius and the great pianist of romantic period Fryderyk Chopin.

What a day does this anniversary exactly fall on? Music historians still puzzle, when Chopin was born in fact. According to the register it was on 22nd February 1810, but he himself and his family stated the date on 1st March.

In six years Chopin gained his first musical education from the Czech musician Vojtěch Živný, who taught him to play the piano. This musical instrument Chopin devoted his entire life. As a renowned pianist, he successfully performed in our country - between 1829 and 1830 in Prague and Teplice.

His compositions will present a pianist Daniel Barenboim at Prague's Rudolfinum on 24th February 2010. This 67 years old soloist, otherwise operates as a conductor of symphonic and opera repertoire, will be in Prague for the first time. He was born in Buenos Aires, grew up in Israel, worked in Chicago, Berlin and on Wagner festivals in Bayreuth.
