Events at Castle Slavkov - Austerlitz

Accept the invitation to Slavkov castle, a Baroque pearl of Moravia, close to Brno.

A representative Baroque chateau of the Kounic family from the second half of the 18th century, constructed according to the project by D. Martinelli on the place of a Gothic fortress. In the year 1945 it was damaged, later gradually renovated including the French garden. An English park. Historical interiors decorated with stuccoes and paintings (the Predecessors Hall, a library, a chapel) with period furnishings and collections. The Kounic collection of paintings, originated in the mid-17th century, belongs to the oldest in the Czech Republic.
In the year 2008, the castle was included in the list of national cultural monuments.

The exhibition of stamps on the Napoleonic theme
This exhibition can be visited till Sep 30, 2009. There are more than 1 000 individual stamps and series on 361 sheets, which represent the personality of Napoleon Bonaparte and his family, important events, wars and battles of the Napoleonic period.
Collection also includes postmarks from the monuments. The rarities are the stamps with a gilded surface film. Stamps come from countries around the world.

The exhibition is freely accessible to the public in front of the entry to a ticket office till Nov 01, 2009.

On Sep 03, 2009 is on a fashion show of silk by Zuzana Machorková and jewels by Marie Steiner and an opening of the exhibition of Marie Steiner - Paintings, objects, glass.
