Glass museum in Nový Bor

In the museum, it is possible to buy copies of historical glass, traditional glass costume jewellery and specialist literature on glass.

In the Empire building in the city center is located a museum documenting the stylish and technological development of Czech glass from 17th century to the present.

The permanent exhibition presents a representative selection of museum collections, more than 550 exhibits show the evolution of the glass especially from Borská-Šenovská area.
Through the models of glass workshops or demonstration of working processes the museum acquaints with the basics of manufacturing technology of glass and coating (painting, engraving, grinding and metallurgical techniques). Through archival documents highlights the interesting details of local history of glass.

The museum does not miss out to document the work of local glass schools and pays attention to the creation of individual glass artists.
In 1994, the glass competitions were restored and the most successful works of the participants are included in the collections of the museum to a presentation and a permanent preservation.

The exhibition of all work of the competiton Crafts and art in glass takes place this year from July 16 - Oct 04. The museum gathered record 141 works. It was listed 10 categories and each of them the professional jury appreciated three works. The main prize of competition was also awarded. The exhibition of works is located in beautiful basements of museum.
