International Documentary Film Festival Jihlava 2008

A competitive festival of documentary films in Jihlava in the Vysočina region. The festival’s traditional motto is the exclamation “Thinking through film!”.

The main axis of the festival programme comprises three competitions: Opus Bonum appreciates thematically innovative world documentaries of high aesthetic quality, Between the Seas presents high quality films from Central and Eastern European Countries, and Czech Joy surveys the newest in Czech filmmaking. Other program sections introduce current events in the Czech and international documentary scenes and Translucent Beings are retrospective profiles of prominent filmmakers.

During the 11 years of its existence, this festival of authorial documentary film has become the greatest event of its kind in Central Europe. It is legendary for its informal atmosphere, spirit of discussion, systematic support of remarkable documentaries, and its editorial activities.
