New Museum of Cesky Krumlov Castle
The area of Cesky Krumlov Castle is one of the largest in Central Europe. It includes over 40 buildings and palaces, situated around five courtyards and seven hectares of the castle garden.
From January 2011 the new castle museum will offer visitors a view into the oldest part of the castle, which has not been seen by visitors yet. There will be displayed a new model of the castle showing its appearance from the mid-16th century. A torso of the Baroque shrine with a skeleton of St. Reparat from a former Franciscan monastery in Cesky Krumlov is expected to be one of the biggest attractions of the castle museum. It will be located in the so-called Treasury of sacred art. There will be also screened films, which members of the Schwarzenberg family filmed in the early 20th century. They were preserved in depositories of Cesky Krumlov Castle and Hluboka Chateau so far.
Cesky Krumlov Castle is an important and very popular tourist destination. It is open to the public from April to October. The new castle museum will be opened on the 10th January 2011 and its operation will be year-round. It should lure on visitors off- season.The whole area of the castle is through and available to the public.
