Jewish cemetery in Teplice
At the beginning of September 2010 the Jewish cemetery in Teplice re-opened after ten years of renovation work. Before World War II it’s estimated that up to 6,000 Jews lived in Teplice and the surrounding area. The community survived the turbulent years of communist rule as it still boasts 116 members. It’s one of only ten functioning Jewish communities in the Czech Republic.
Mausoleum of the famous bishops in Olomouc
From 17 December 2010, a new mausoleum of the famous bishops, established after the restoration of the Cathedral of St. Wenceslas, will be made accessible in Olomouc. In addition to tombs and sarcophagi, restores renovated also frescoes, furniture and sculptures. Reconstruction of the lower and upper crypt followed on repairs of the cathedral exterior in last years. The aim of the project was to preserve the European cultural and spiritual heritage.
I. Czechoslovak Infocentre in Kohútka
In late October 2010, the first Czechoslovak Information centre Kohútka in Javorníky was opened. The centre serves as an educational centre and conference hall, an exhibition gallery, and a place for craft workshops. There you can buy souvenirs and get information materials. In the future it should be linked with other information centres on both sides of the border.
Vochlice view-tower in Karlovy Vary Region
One of other restored view-towers can be found near Lubenec. The outlook-tower was probably built as a diversification of a large English park of Mlýnce Chateau in the second half of the 19th century. The tower was reconstructed approximately from spring 2007.
Lost Lane in Kolín
You can again walk through the historic Lost Lane in Kolín after years. There is also the so-called Wall of desire, which reminds fates of Kolín natives. Two historic lamps and benches complement the atmosphere of this original corner.
Devil's Glen Nature Trail
In Mácha´s Country there was opened a new nature trail leading along Dolský stream. The starting point for a romantic walk through the picturesque valley of Devil´s Glen is Dřevčice village near the Dutch lakes and Mácha´s Lake. Dřevčice is a small village with a renowned classicist complex of story bricked folk architecture. In the Devil's Glen there is unique moisture in every season that promotes the occurrence of specific flora with various animals. In the valley, where drinking waters spring, there are two newly renovated fountains.
A new exhibition of Krkonoše Museum in Jilemnice
The Museum of Krkonoše National Park Administration prepared a new ski exhibition called The White snowtrack - chapters of the history of skiing till 1938. The exhibition represents the development of skiing in our country from the first ski, lives of the first skiers, the first ski prizes and medals.
Coin masters´cellar in Brno
Coin masters´cellar or "Cellar of two coin masters" is a name of historic cellars, discovered during a survey of Brno's underground in 1999. In 2007, the cellar, which was situated probably under the house of coin master Bruno and later Nicholas, was opened to the public, and three years later it was attached to the refurbished New Hall Cellars. Thereby it was created a valuable cellar complex equipped with expositions in 2010. The exhibition reminds the almost forgotten craft of coinage in Brno and Moravia. It is also a remark of the historical development of this urban area, from the Middle Ages to the present.
