Opening of the navigation season on the Bata canal

Operation of the Bata canal generally starts as early as April, though the official “opening of the navigation season” is always on the 1st of May at some ports.

The symbolic opening takes place on this day and is accompanied by a cultural programme, boat voyages and other attractions to mark the start of the navigation season.
