Prague Wine Week
End of January belongs to wine and excellent cuisine in Prague. After a year a successful week of wines returns to Prague. It has become one of the leading wine and culinary events of the Czech capital.
The second annual of the festival Prague Wine Week takes place from 18 to 24 January 2010. Throughout the week selected Prague restaurants, wine bars and wine shops offer all sorts of wine tastings and special menu combined with the best wines. A number of prestigious winemakers come in Prague to present their wines here. About 15 thousand of visitors are expected to participate, not only people of Prague, but also foreigners.
The festival will culminate by a gala wine-tasting at Brevnov monastery in Prague on Friday 22 January 2010, during which visitors can taste more than three hundreds honoured wines from the largest wine competition in our country - Prague Wine Trophy. The competition participated over 1100 wines this year. Champions of the Prague Wine Trophy and the best wineries and importers will be awarded during the gala wine-tasting. Last year over 1000 visitors from the Czech Republic and abroad visited the gala wine-tasting, which has become one of the most reputable wine events in Prague.
On the occasion of Prague Wine Week a bilingual Czech-English Prague Wine Guide has been published, in which each participant - bars, restaurants, hotels, wine cellars, wine shops and wine importers – has a presentation with contact information, basic offer, opening hours, photos and an overview of special events.
