The state chateau of Hluboká cordially invite you to a nontraditional tour of the chateau themed The beginnings of electrification at the Hluboká chateau.
The tour is designed for enquiring visitors, who can actively participate in it. A part of the tour are short stories on the topic of the electrification of the chateau. The visitors can see the reproduction of period catalogs and archival materials from the National Technical Museum in Prague and preserved electricity-powered things from the chateau collections, which were actual just 100 years ago.
The tour helds every weekend in November from 10 am to 4 pm.
Visit Hluboká Chateau, a fairy-tale residence woven from a beautiful lady’s dream. One of the most frequent targets of tourist trips to South Bohemia is located approximately 11 km north of České Budějovice.
The state chateau of Hluboká was originally founded as a guarding castle in the mid 13th century by the king of Bohemia, Přemysl Otakar II.
Several aristocratic families took turns owning it. The important ones included e.g. the Lords of Pernštejn, who founded the nearby fishpond of Bezdrev in 1490, the second largest fishpond in Bohemia.
In 1661, Jan Adolf I of Schwarzenberg bought Hluboká. The Schwarzenbergs lived in Hluboká until the end of 1939, when the last owner Dr. Adolf emigrated overseas. The Schwarzenbergs twice rebuilt the chateau of Hluboká, first in the early 18th century in the Baroque style, and later, they carried out an extensive reconstruction of the chateau in the romantic neo-Gothic style of the in the years 1840 – 1871.
