Set out on the trip to the White Carpathians, to the region rich in folkore traditions

Microregion White Carpathians is located in the foothills of two highest peaks: Velká Javořina (970 m) and Velký Lopeník (912 m).

This beautiful corner of the Zlin Region offers deep woods and legendary meadows of Orchid, as well as living traditions (folklore and handicrafts), the variety of costumes, good plum brandy, dulcimer music and other entertainment.

PLA White Carpathians
The White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area was established on 3rd November 1980 in the area of Hodonín, Uherské Hradiště and Gottwaldov (nowadays called Zlín). Thanks to their extensive meadows, the White Carpathians constitute one of the most valuable meadow biotopes in Europe and are a study area of global significance. The valuable locations here include the Čertoryje or Jazevčí Nature Reserve. It is bilateral PLA with Slovakia, which is long 70 km in the Czech Republic. The highest peak is the Velká Javořina (970 m).
Javořina Nature Trail will lead you through Horňácko, a region with untouched countryside and a wealth of culture. The trail measures 23 km in total and on the way you will see 14 nature trail panels providing information about the region here and its inhabitants. The most interesting point is Javořina with its preserved primeval beech forest.

Ecological Veronica Centre in Hostětín
Veronica Hostětín Centre is dedicated to environmental education and adult education in particular - it organizes seminars, field trips, workshops and training on environmental protection during the year.
The village is known for its environmental projects: sewage treatment plant, renovated fruit dry kiln, solar commutators, boiler burning wood chips, use of straw as heat insulation, production of bio apple juice, integration of wooden sculptures in the landscape and least disturbing public lighting.

Apple Festival in Hostětín
Traditional celebration of apples, local products, crafts and culture. The program includes a craft fair, an exhibition and selling of domestic apple cakes and a show of regional varieties of fruits. You can enjoy folklore and theatre performances, dulcimer music, various prize competitions, tasting of fresh apple juice and other attractive and entertaining program.

Museum of Animal Castrators in Komňa
The village of Komňa in the White Carpathians in the Uherské Hradiště District has opened a unique museum tracing the life of local animal castrators in the late 19th century. This now defunct trade was particularly common in Komňa, which is also known as the possible birthplace of J. A. Komensky.
The exhibition is situated in the 150 year old house where the family of animal castrator really lived. In 2008 the house was declared a cultural monument.
Craftsmen, who castrated livestock of gonads, were high demand and needful in the 19th and 20th century. The castration was necessary for successful farming because animals were calmer after it and better usable on the field and for meat. According to historical sources there lived about 220 craftsmen of this craft in Komňa. Thanks to it the region was not so poor but craftsmen were often up to 6 months out of home and women left alone with children to manage the farming, which was exhausting.

Jan Amos Komensky Memorial in Komňa
This permanent exhibition dedicated to J. A. Komensky is located in a listed and protected granary. Inside there is a permanent exhibition on the history of the village, J. A. Komensky, the excavation from Zuvačov castle, and a collection of articles, period tools and furniture.
