Rarely were people in high spirits in the Czech countryside in the past more than just in the feast of St. Martin, which falls on 11th November. On this day and often a few days before villagers had a reason to rejoice. The harvest was already out of harm´s way indoors, hard field work and related services ended in the period, a time for a relaxation started. This turning point of two periods was celebrated by various festivities. In the tradition the entertainment will continue at the Loučeň chateau again in 2009. This will culminate in the arrival of St. Martin's white horse.
This year you can buy lanterns at the castle and set off an adventurous trail through the chateau park shortly after dark. From the chateau pub will savour crunchy fried St. Martin geese, which you can taste in conjuction with St. Martin wine.
