Tips for trip to the Celts and Celtic Culture
Do you want to know how people lived in the Czech Republic 2,000 years ago? Are you interested in history and the Celts?
You can visit museums, nature trails, open-air museums with the real view of the Celtic village, including buildings, crafts, and even the life from the period, when the Celts lived in this country.
The Celts were a large group of tribes, which inhabited the western, central and partially southern and eastern Europe in ancient times, including area of the Czech Republic. The Celts, who lived in Bohemia from the 6th to 1st century B.C., left a lot of relics made of bronze, iron, glass, ..., in our area there are many Celtic villages, settlements and cultic places.

Travel to the Witness Hill Chotus and to Křinec for Education
The marl hill Chotus at the foot of which the small town of Křinec is located has been an important spiritual place since the era of Celts. Celtic settlement reminds many archaeological findings. The most famous is a tomb of a warrior who has become a part of an exhibition of the National Museum in Prague.
Prášily Archaeological Park
You can visit Prášily Archaeological Park, where are based reconstructions of actual findings, e.g. the biggest reconstruction of the entrance gate in Bohemia or a reconstruction of a single mansion of the Celts. Or you can attend an educational program „How the Celts lived“ and try their crafts personally.
The Isarno Celtic Open-air Museum at Letovice
The name ISARNO is derived from the old Celtic word for iron. In a place of a former quarry you will see a realistic representation of a Celtic village, including the buildings, handcrafts and all matters of life from 2000 years ago.
Following in the footsteps of the Celts into the Iron Mountains
We invite you to Nasavrky in the Iron Mountains to visit a Renaissance chateau with a year round exhibit called "In the Footsteps of the Celts". You will learn about the history of the Celts in Bohemia and in Europe, about crafts, culture, everyday life and spirituality of the Celts. The exhibition presents the processing of iron ore, pottery, weaving of cloth, jewelry, weapons, Celtic graves and archaeological findings from the settlement České Lhotice.
Závist settlement
The largest known Celtic oppidum in Bohemia and Central Europe, which was built over today's Zbraslav Chateau near Prague, at an altitude of 391 meters. An archaeological research in the years 1963 - 1989 proved an existence of many buildings, the Acropolis, but also several phases of building the massive fortifications that have changed the terrain and the shape of the hill. With relics of Závist oppidum acquaints a nature trail, which was built within the international project "Celtic Europe“.
Nižbor Chateau
For several years now, Nižbor Chateau has been the home of the Celtic Information Centre, which has become a centre dedicated not only to a long-extinct culture, but also to the newly awakening Celtic tradition.
The Museum of the Celts in the village of Dobšice
This museum recalls the settlement in the vicinity of the Cidlina River in the 4th and 3rd centuries B.C. The exhibition is aimed not only at adults but also children of all ages.
Benátky nad Jizerou Chateau
Visit the chateau where Tycho de Brahe, Bendové brothers and Bedřich Smetana stayed. Try the interactions in the exhibitions with focus on the Lords from Dražice, Tycho de Brahe, Jan from Werth and Celts. In a reconstructed house of the Celts and other areas you can see archeological findings, wear clothes of the Celts and try a pike.
Lookout-tower on the Sedlo Hill
On the Sedlo Hill near the village of Albrechtice near Sušice, where was a Celtic settlement, was opened a new lookout-tower in December 2009, which with its ground area is inspired by Celtic designs. There is a beautiful panoramic view of the Bohemian Forest, Kašperk Castle, and Svatobor Hill.
