Tips on Easter holidays

Enjoy the celebration of Easter and the opening of tourist season. There are rich programs of Easter, fairs, folk crafts demonstrations, exhibitions and spring delicatessen for lovers of good food in many places.

On 1st to 5th April, visitors can come into a traditional event called "Easter at a castellan" or from a carnival after Easter at Nové Hrady Castle. During the tour you will learn folk customs of Nové Hrady region from the carnival after Easter in the prewar period and you can see decorated Easter exposition of a flat of manor official in a place of the New Palace.
The City Museum and a gallery in Dačice held the Easter Fair in the courtyard of the castle and its premises.
Easter markets also take place at the courtyard of Trebon Castle on 3rd April.

The famous Easter customs and crafts, rattle´s parade, dancing of castle servants, a unique exhibition of ceramic pans for cake and Easter lambs, all in the presence of the prince and princess from the castle.
Princess of the castle, although originally Italian, has taken a liking to the Czech worship of spring festivities.
At other times inaccessible vaulted halls on the ground floor you can admire the work of many old Czech craftsmen.

Return with us to Křivoklát 150 years ago, spend Easter of our ancestors, see nowadays unknown customs and handicrafts.
Visit the entire castle accompanied by princely servants, hunters and the prince himself. Try painting of eggs, making candles, knit your “pomlázka” (birch rods), or make a whistle. Taste a lot of good things which were boiled, fried and roasted on Easter.

At Veltrusy Castle that surrounds a park with beautiful pavilions, the Easter fair with period stalls and culture takes place on 3rd April 2010.
Athletes will certainly come by bicycles here, because there is an international cycling route Prague – Dresden in the castle park.

Also this year, selected wine cellars will be opened to visitors in Valtice, where you can taste the great wines of local vintners.
