Trojan horse under Bouzov Castle
There is evidently no more fairytale a castle in the Czech Republic than Bouzov.
Despite the fact that its present appearance was only given to the castle at the turn of the 20th century by an order of German knights, for many people it is the true medieval castle. It is also loved by film makers – to mention just a few fairy tales we could name Arabela, Princess Fantaghiro or the story of Princess Jasnenka and the Flying Shoemaker. Make sure to also stop off in the area under the castle!
It would be a shame to set out for Bouzov Castle and forget to indulge in further amusement in the area under the castle, for example in the historical entertainment complex. You will recognise this place easily – you will see smoke rising from it, the stink of gunpowder hangs in the air and the creaking of siege machines or boom of cannons can be heard. You will certainly also not fail to miss the dominant feature of the complex, a 15 m high Trojan horse weighing 55 tonnes, apparently the largest construction of its kind in the world, representing the foundation stone of the exhibition of war machines. Exhibition space can be found in its interior and anybody who is not afraid of heights can climb right up to the horse’s head via steep stairs, to a lookout point 14 m high.
