Valdštejn Festival in Frýdlant

A traditional two-day historical festival with a cultural programme, market and battles.

The Valdštejn celebrations 2009 consists of three more or less separate parts: a cultural program, an international historical battle and a program for children.

The cultural program will take place mostly at the TG Masaryk square maily in front of the Town Hall. This year the Frýdlant Castle will provide a few premises too. At the courtyard you'll be able to see, as traditionally, Saturday evening performances.

The main part of the whole program of Valdštejn celebrations will take place on a stage near the Town Hall of TG Masaryk Square on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am. The square will be a real center of all events: there will be market men with their stands, Duke of Valdštejn will arrive with his company and will start the festivities, on Saturday night the festivities will culminate in fireworks.

The International historical battle will be on the field behind Daniel motels. It will start on Saturday at 3:00 pm. On Sunday, however, the battle will begin an hour earlier, but the show of units of troops will be a part of the conclusion of Valdštejn celebrations in the square.

The program for children will be ready from Saturday and Sunday morning in two places: in the courtyard of Frýdlant Town Hall, then, on Saturday at the same time the handmade program will start in the House of children and youth. Duke of Valdštejn will reward the best manual work with valuable prizes on the main stage.
