Vildštejn Castle and Fire-fighters Museum in Skalná near Cheb

The romanesque Vildštejn Castle was founded in 1166, but firstly was opened to the public in 2001. The castle newly boasts the only fire brigade museum in all West Bohemia.

The castle belongs among one of the oldest castles in the Cheb region.
It offers a rich program of attractions for visitors. It arranges knightly banquets with historical program. In the chapel there are held religious and civil weddings in the historic spirit with an unforgettable atmosphere.
In the basement there is an archaeological exhibition on the history of the castle with relics of alive bricked White Lady. For children´s visitors is ready a little show of both domestic and wild animals.
The castle also has its own rich cuisine with a knight's menu. Guests can feast in the small and large Knights' Hall, which is furnished in the historic Gothic style.

In a newly renovated section of Vildštejn Castle visitors can admire old pieces of fire fighting equipment, uniforms and tools as well as learn a little about the history of the local fire brigade, which last year celebrated its 140th anniversary.
