Virtual Museum of the Baroque Town of Valeč
On the occasion of the 650th year of the baroque town of Valeč, a new historical museum has been opened to the public.
Visitors to the museum can see examples of restored works and contemporary arts and crafts.
The museum premises are divided into two sections. The first section includes, among other things, portraits of the Štampach family who bought the manor in Valeč in 1517. The history of this time is also described in two sections with period furniture and other items.
The second section displays the work of picture framers, ceramists, carvers, glassmakers and other craftsmen. Also included are the rooms for the final Master’s examinations in smithing and 30 other crafts. From 2009, the graduates of the Masters Academy of Arts and Crafts will provide their artistic products to Valeč, which will then comprise a permanent exhibition.
Visitors can view a film commemorating the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans after World War II and explaining the entire 650-year long history. This unique museum project has been prepared by the Valeč v Čechách (Valeč in Bohemia) Foundation.
