Visit Veltrusy Château and its sightseeing trail for cyclists

Visitors have the possibility of taking a guided tour through the grounds of Veltrusy Château by bicycle. The trail is 8 km long and has 11 stops.

New for the 2008 season is a guided tour for cyclists. For the first time, visitors can see the reconstructed Laudon’s pavilion, which was built as a sluice gate for the canal. The reconstructed interior decoration is completely fresh. Other stops for visitors are at the floodplain forest, the canal, in front of the main gate, at the Pavilion of Friends of the Countryside and Gardens, and by the Egyptian Cabinet, with its sphinx bridge. Nor should you miss seeing the Marie Theresa pavilion set in the middle of the open riding arena, one of the largest in Europe.

Visitors can go on the guided cycle-trail all through the summer holidays (1 July–31 August 2008). Sightseeing tours start from the château building at 9:00, 11:00, 13:30 and 15:30 every day, except Mondays.

Despite the terrible damage caused to the grounds by the floods of 2002, visitors can now see once again the unique functional greenhouses with duct heating and an assortment of flowers typical of the 18th century. Also on show are exhibits of tree growing schemes and other repairs to the park.
